View DatesWells, located in Somerset in southwest England, is renowned as Englands smallest city, both in population and area, yet it is rich in history and architectural charm. Its centerpiece is the magnificent Wells Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture begun in 1176, famous for its striking west façade, intricate scissorarches, and medieval astronomical clock. Opposite the cathedral lies the Bishops Palace and Gardens, a moated historic residence with beautifully maintained gardens, ancient water features, and scenic walking paths. The citys medieval character is further preserved in Vicars Close, often cited as one of the oldest residential streets in Europe, alongside winding cobbled streets, historic timberframed buildings, and the bustling Market Place, where traditional markets have operated for centuries.
